Adding bookmarks is simple in Keenious, whether you are using Microsoft Word, Google Docs, or the website!
1. Make sure you're logged in
Bookmarks are saved to your account. Your bookmarks are linked to your account, making them available on any device you log in to.
2. Find an article you like!
When you find an article and want to keep it for later, simple press the "Save" button to add it to your bookmarks. It will turn golden βοΈ when the article is bookmarked.
You can see your bookmarked articles in a list of recommendations by looking for the star symbol.
3. Check your bookmarks
To see your bookmarked articles , click on the 'Bookmarks' button. Itβs important to note that the Smart Bookmark feature functions as a filter. When you access your bookmarked items, it presents relevant articles labelled 'bookmark' from our collection.
Any article that doesn't meet the required relevance level wonβt be included in the list. Not to panic it is not lost forever! You can still find them by using a more relevant document.
Un-bookmarking an article
Just as easy as the bookmarking process, click on the now golden star to un-bookmark it, and return it to a plain pale colour.
Understanding Bookmarks in Keenious
The smart bookmarks feature in Keenious can sometimes be a bit tricky to understand given it was designed to function as a filter.. Here's a detailed explanation to help you understand how it works.
How Bookmarks Function
Bookmarks as Filters:
When you bookmark an article, it essentially tags the article with a 'bookmark' tag.
Viewing your list of bookmarks is similar to performing a search for articles tagged with 'bookmark'.
As with any search, only articles that meet a minimum relevance threshold to your current text will be displayed.
Relevance-Based Display:
If you switch from one topic to another (e.g., from astro-physics to the biology of an octopus), you may notice that some bookmarks seem to disappear. This happens because the relevance between the new text and the old bookmarks is too low.
Using Bookmarks in Different Versions
Web Version vs. Microsoft Word & Google Docs:
Both the web version and the add-in allow you to filter for bookmarks in the same way.
There is no dedicated page for all your bookmarks in Keenious. For better management of extensive lists of sources, we recommend exporting articles to a reference manager tool.
Purpose of Bookmarks:
It is to help you keep track of interesting articles you come across while researching using Keenious.
Future standalone Bookmarks Feature:
We are aware people would like a standalone bookmarks feature, which would allow users to view and filter the entire list of bookmarks. We hope to add this to the tool in the future!
