How do I Set up Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) for Keenious?🔐
Updated over 5 months ago

Adding an extra layer of security to your Keenious account with Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) is a great way to protect your or your user's account from unauthorized access. Setting it up is easy (and we've got you covered with this guide 😉).

Check Your Institution's 2FA Policy.

Your institution's Admin might have set up a 2FA policy for different user roles. You can check this in your settings. Depending on your role, you'll either have 2FA as:

  1. Optional - You can choose whether to enable 2FA.

  2. Enforced - You'll be required to set up 2FA the next time you log in.

  3. Disabled - You won't be prompted to enable 2FA.

👩‍💻 Admin? Here's How to Enable 2FA for Your Group.

  1. Log into your Admin Keenious account and go to Institution settings; this will be underneath the Members tab.

  2. Scroll down, navigate to "Two-Factor Authentication", and select your preferred option.

🔐Enforced 2FA? Time to Set It Up!

If your institution's policy is Enforced, you'll see a prompt the next time you log in to Keenious.

  1. When prompted, click 'Set Up Two-Factor Authentication' to go to your User Settings.

  2. The Enable Two-Factor Authentication modal will automatically open.

  3. Download an Authenticator App: To complete the setup, you'll need to download an authenticator app, such as Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator, on your phone. These apps generate the time-sensitive codes that you'll use for 2FA.

  4. Scan the QR Code: Once the authenticator app is installed, open it and scan the QR code shown in the modal.

  5. Enter the Code: After scanning the QR code, the app will generate a 6-digit code. Enter that code into the modal on your computer screen to complete the setup.

  6. Once confirmed, 2FA is set up, and you're all set to go!

🤷🏻‍♀️Optional 2FA? It's Up to You!

If your institution has set 2FA to Optional, you can choose whether to enable it. Here's how:

  1. Go to your User Settings.

  2. You'll see an option to enable 2FA. It's completely up to you if you want to turn it on for extra security!

🎉 And That's It! You're All Set!

With 2FA up and running, your account is locked down tight. Easy to set up and a whole lot more secure💪.
